Consists of letters from Mrs. Allan F. Rogers, (nee Dorothy Davies), and her husband, Dr. Allan F. Rogers, 1919?- , medical officer of the British Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition, 1957-1958, led by Sir Vivian Fuchs, and Lecturer on physiology at the University of Bristol, England, to Mrs. Robert Elisha Burke, (nee Avis Tarrant), and her husband Robert Elisha Burke, Professor of Art at Indiana University. Mrs. Rogers' letters describe the plans, preparations and progress of the expedition and give personal and family news. A letter of January 20, 1958 from Allan F. Rogers to Mrs. Burke is postmarked "Pole Station, Antartica" at the top of the letter.

Avis Tarrant Burke was the wife of Indiana University fine arts professor Robert E. Burke. Avis was active with the IU Extension Divsion and wrote several articles for its bulletin. Together she and Robert travelled extensively, which served as the subject of articles she wrote for the Bloomington newspaper from 1932-1953.
